Webb County Appraisal District’s Public Information Coordinator is responsible for organizing and coordinating public relations activities for the District. These activities include, but are not limited to community outreach programs, public meetings, informing public/property owners via press release and advertisements about any upcoming events, or important dates, and facilitate property owners with information requested under open records request of the Texas Public Information Act. Public Relations (PR) is the practice of managing the communication between an organization and its public. It involves cooperative efforts with public, and other organizations to build mutually beneficial relationships between the organization and its public.

To help achieve an optimum level of transparency, Webb County Appraisal District encourages property owners to provide their feedback (positive/negative) which they feel might help the District improve their services.

The purpose of the Public Relations program at Webb County Appraisal District is to create and sustain strong and positive image of the District by maintaining an open line of communication with the public, and keeping them well informed of their rights and responsibilities, and the District’s mission, vision, and purpose.

As a part of the District’s ongoing efforts to facilitate the property owners with an up-to-date information on appraisal events, District tries to use all the available tools and resources. This includes but is not limited to; local media and newspaper, community outreach programs, public meetings, and District’s Website. Webb County Appraisal District uses these resources to create public awareness by informing them about the important deadlines, events, and educate property owners about the appraisal process, and their rights, and responsibilities. The Public Information Act, formerly known as Open Records Act, provides a mechanism for citizens to inspect or copy government records. It also provides for instances in which governmental bodies wish to, or are required by law to, withhold government records from the public.
